The newest airport in Malaysia, KLIA2 was built to cater to 45mil passengers per year with full fledge facilities which consist of restaurants, shops, and various services similar to a shopping mall concept. Due to the high foot traffic, trolley-wheeled traffic, and diverse businesses’ needs in the airport, Niro Ceramic Group was called in to supply floor tiles for our Swiss-Quality tiles are well known for their durability and everlasting shine.
Kota Kinabalu International Airport, Malaysia
Being the main gateway into Sabah and Borneo Island, the airport offers all conveniences of a modern airport. The multi-cultural state with various ethnicities was a strong factor of the airport receiving more than 8 million passengers a year. This was also one of the reasons for the airport to be incorporated with ethnic patterns such as the patterns of the Rungus and Bajau ethnic groups into the design of the floor tiles. Fortunately, we had a variety of designs to match the theme and durability that the airport needs.
Petronas Twin Towers Sky Bridge, Malaysia
The Petronas Twin Towers Sky Bridge is the World’s tallest sky bridge connecting two towers on the 41st and 42nd floors. The bridge is designed to slide in and out of the towers to prevent it from breaking as the towers sway several feet in towards and away from each other during high winds. The materials used to build the bridge must be able to withstand such pressure and not result in breaking. Niro Granite porcelain tiles fired at 1200°C when it is manufactured resulting in a compact, high-strength piece of tile that fits the description that the bridge requires.
Malaysia’s first international theme park and first Legoland in Asia needed an easy-to-maintain and durable floor that could withstand high foot traffic, heavy constructions, and exposure to sun and rain. And of course, safety is also an important factor as the park would be most frequented by children. For example, we have used the Megalito series that embodies strength and durability with structured surface that has better friction for the hotel pool area. The Legoland Hotel bathrooms are also adorned with Orin’s bathroom accessories.
Starbucks – the world’s largest coffee chain where you can smell a grande brewing from a mile away. We’ve recently completed a Starbucks Reserve project at Sumarecon Mall Kelapa Gading in Jakarta. The high traffic area needed a durable floor with safety features, and not forgetting a unique design just like their Frappuccinos! We have used Murale in a combination of colours and a special diagonal cut to achieve this. In Malaysia, we completed the most recent Starbucks project at Central i-City at the same time.
Aquatic Stadium Gelora Bung Karno, Indonesia
Indonesia’s National Swimming Pool – Aquatic Stadium Gelora Bung Karno was where the 18th Asian Games 2018 was held. With 4 pools that included a diving pool and a water polo pool, they were looking for durable flooring with matt finish that can conceal water smudges better, can withstand water, and a cooler floor temperature for swimmers to go barefoot in during the sunny weather. We are glad to be part of the 18th Asian Games with our tile – HardRock that has surpassed all the 3 important conditions that Aquatic Stadium GBK was looking for.
Ibis Styles Vung Tau, Vietnam
Located near the beach and seafood restaurants in Vung Tau, Vietnam, where people soak in the sun while having seafood pancakes! The Ibis Styles with its playful and stylish ambience adds on to the fun at the beach. We have used Scene series of tiles to complement the colourful surroundings.
Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge, China
Take a look behind the scenes of the World’s longest sea-crossing bridge – the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau-Bridge. The 55km bridge-tunnel system consists of a series of three cable-stayed bridges, an undersea tunnel, and four artificial islands.

- Long-lasting tile with high breaking strength to support high traffic areas. The bridge is supposed to last for 120 years
- Low water absorption rate – some parts of the bridge is built under the sea thus the flooring should withstand water
- Innovative and timeless design – after all the bridge is the World’s longestWe’ve used Regal series – the revolutionary porcelain tiles. The result was an elegant World Record sea crossing, completed in 2019 and we are proud to be part of it.
Vogel Offroads, Switzerland
Chevrolet, Hummer, Cadillac, Jeep, Chrysler – which is your favourite car brand?
It was a difficult choice for us too when we were handling the showroom design of Vogel Offroad in Switzerland. Vogel wanted an exquisite design, just like the dream cars they were selling.
We’ve used I’Pietra and Vein Stone on the floor to create the look they were looking for.
Jolibee Restaurants, The Philippines
Jollibee Philippines – the largest fast-food chain in the Philippines with more than 1,200 outlets wanted to achieve a clean and warm in-store environment in all their outlets. Safety is also a concern and of course, materials used must be durable.
We have used Touch Stone series (matt) at the main storefront. In all the other areas, Jolibee has selected Sardinia, Elmina, Stockholm, or I”Pietra depending on the designer’s choice of design.
Sheraton Hsinchu Hotel, Taiwan
Sheraton Hsinchu is the 2nd largest hotel in Taiwan, located in the heart of Zhubei City’s shopping and business district.
The hotel wanted to exude a calm and peaceful atmosphere and had requested tiles that suit the back-to-nature concept especially for the large open space areas.For its dining area, they wanted an elegant atmosphere with a floor that complements the colours in their design and the outdoor scenery displayed through the large windows.
We have used Fossil Wood series in different shades to suit the ambience.
Nadi International Airport, Fiji
The Nadi International Airport is the main international airport of Fiji and an important regional hub for the South Pacific islands. Handling more than 2 million passengers a year, the airport needs a durable floor suitable for high traffic area. We have used GSM Megalito on all exterior floors, which embodies strength, dignity, and durability. Megalito series is perfect for commercial areas and residential outdoors.
Trou Aux Biches Hotel, Mauritius
A luxurious hotel in Mauritius, situated on Trou aux Biches Beach on the north-west coast of Mauritius. This eco-friendly resort is surrounded by tropical gardens and private pools in the villas. The hotel needed to display the image of eco-friendliness while preserving the luxurious concept. We have used Granite Stone series – notable for the fine veins in the lobby and Nordik Stone in the villas, both of which reflect the beauty of the natural stone.
Nestor Hotel, Cyprus
Centrally located in Ayia Napa, just 300 m from Ayia Napa Beach, the Nestor Hotel boasts its panoramic view of the Mediterranean Sea or inland views from its balcony. Particularly liked by couples, it has the features of a romantic getaway. Niro Granite was tasked with helping to create the ambience with the flooring material. Our tiles with its polished glaze jive with the romantic and elegant ambience that the hotel needs.
Muji Fashion Chain, Japan
Muji – the Japanese retail store founded in 1980, which is now well-known worldwide. Its design philosophy is minimalist, and it places an emphasis on recycling, reducing production, and packaging waste. Our challenge was to complement the store’s minimalist design with flooring material that gives the impression of recycled earth material. Fortunately, our digitally printed tiles closely resemble natural earth materials and this helps bring in the natural and minimalistic looks for Muji.
